Banbury Police Station is located in the heart of Banbury, situated on the B4100 surrounded by residential housing.  The car park is located to the rear of the Police station on a hill slope, which is accessed at street level but spans over a basement car park at the lower end of the hill.

The existing deck waterproof coating had rippled due to heat and cooling of the asphalt underneath causing thermal movement.  This caused several problems such as trip hazards and come winter the rain would collect in the ridges and freeze causing the car park to be an ice rink.  The upstand coatings had delaminated and rippled due to fluctuations in expansion and contraction and so the top deck needed refurbishment.
