Located centrally DC Grocery supplies all of the Midland Supermarkets from Daventry. The site operates 24/7 and has 3 shift changes operating with 2000 staff per shift change.

The car park has a high demand and the top deck was made available to Makers for the completion of the project with the exception of the high security entrance to the skywalk and the provision for smokers on the top deck throughout the whole of the contract.

The car park falls outside the DC security area but is completely land locked with main roads and a 4 lane heavy goods vehicle entrance on the other side.

The car parks issue was that since it’s construction in 2008 the top deck waterproofing which has a Sterling Lloyd system failed to take into consideration the deflection above the steel beam lines and cracked promptly allowing water to penetrate through the structural topping and causing sever corrosion to the structural steel members below.

In order to prevent replacement of the steel beams the system was to be replaced. Water tracking beneath the system had caused large scale debonding leaving the exposed concrete surface open to the elements.
