TESCO Cradley Heath car park is constructed from a steel frame with precast concrete slabs together and existing waterproof coating.

The existing coatings had the appearance of camouflage which had been caused by the application of previous systems which had worn out at different rates, resulting in a mottled effect. The coatings themselves presented a problem with slip resistance and when wet were slippery under foot.

The car park was experiencing movement and a bounce could be felt when cars travelled across it, and the waterproof coatings had failed…
