intu Lakeside is a large out of town Shopping Centre located in West Thurrock, Essex. It provides tenancy and a great location to many of the major retail brands such as Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, and Primark just to name a few with a footfall of over 20 million a year.

Due to the fantastic ongoing work being carried out by Makers on the Centre’s main roofing project, we were asked to survey and produce a recommendation for a profiled metal sheet roof and an adjacent single ply flat roof the Centre were having major water Ingress issues with. In heavy downpours the water was finding its way into Prezzo Restaurant and causing a huge inconvenience to customers enjoying lunchtime, evening meals and drinks.

Leaks on pitched metal roofs can be difficult to pin point so the decision was made to completely encapsulate the 2 roofs with a reinforced system offering a 20-year single point warranty. This gave intu huge confidence that once completed this roof could be forgotten about for at least the next 20 years.

Due to the proximity to the general public and the number of air inlets on the roof a low odor product was essential as cheaper inferior liquid systems can give of a strong solvent smell whilst going through the curing process.
