Royal Victoria at the British Parking Awards
We are delighted to announce that Royal Victoria MSCP Tunbridge Wells has been shortlisted to be a finalist at the British Parking Awards.
The Royal Victoria has just been the recipient of a £9,000,000 full car park refurbishment with systematic redesign to cope with modern day vehicles.
The car park provides parking to the Shopping Centre and Town High Street and is immensely popular with visitors to Tunbridge Wells.
The system has been designed with Makers providing a leading contribution in the remediation approach, material selection and layout design using our vast experience to improve the parking experience for the many users at RVP.
The car park covers some 9 deck levels and 35,000m2 but remained open for the majority of the refurbishment with a small closure to deal with the upgrade of the entrance and exit areas.
The car park has undergone a full structural repair and refurbishment, a complete waterproof design including replacing all movement joints, the full upgrade and replacement of the electrical system to create a much safter parking environment, together with a complete redecoration and protective application package.
Parking bays previously closed to visitors for a number of years have been strengthened and returned to parking, and bays super widened to provide a comfortable parking experience.
Individual disabled ramps were created to assist in both parking and shopping access and bright individual colour systems were introduced to create vibrant backdrops to the car park.

“We have been delighted and very impressed by everyone in the Makers team, they have delivered a very complex project to a very high standard and have cemented themselves in our team”.
Baxall Construction.
“Being involved at the very outset has meant we have been able to guide and brief the design team to allow them to provide cost saving solutions and drive the project forward”
Simon Lamb, MD
The car park provides parking for 958 cars but following its refurbishment its hours of use have been reduced where it remains closed overnight.
“It’s a great achievement to be shortlisted, not all projects make it to the finals, it was a relief that Royal Victoria had qualified which is a testament to the hard work and finish achieved. I am sure it will be a strong contender, so fingers crossed…”
William McCrimmon, Regional Contracts Director.
