Omni Teams signs off with a win

Guests with Gavin HastingsThe 60,000 m2 car park refurbishment located at the heart of Edinburgh City Centre started back in 2020 and was affected by Covid and all that it brought, but despite the trials and tribulations the project has enjoyed a fantastic working relationship between Makers and the Consultancy teams.

In recognition of the close working relationship that formed during the contract Makers’ Directors invited the team to celebrate the completion of the retention period at Murrayfield for the Six Nations match between Scotland and Wales.

Attendees from Omni Centre Management, Alison Young, and Thomas Gray all attended a pre-match dinner at the famous Gaucho restaurant followed by a quick tram ride to the home of Scottish rugby. Gaucho’s famous for its high-quality steaks and privacy placed Makers and its guests in the private dining room which was a nice touch and to top off the pre match entertainment Gavin Hastings popped in to discuss the upcoming match and provide an insight into the world of Scottish Rugby also taking time out for photos creating great memories for our guests.

Makers & Guests at Gaucho Restaurant“The guys at Makers have been fantastic, one of the best contractors I have worked with and they have been a pleasure to be around. They have dealt with everything that was thrown at them with professionalism and I can’t recommend them highly enough”.

“It’s been great to meet up again after the retention period and share another great experience… the team have been first class and organising a Scottish win very welcome”.

Scotland V Wales Six Nations 2023Scotland ran out convincing winners against a Welsh side cobbled together by veteran coach Warren Gatlin who had remained unbeaten by the Scots, however there was a distinct difference in class as Scotland marched onto a 35-7 victory chalking up their second win of the six nations. The victory was not lost of the crowd as Scotland have failed to win their two opening games since the six nations was formed, but wins against England at Twickenham and Wales at Murrayfield see them top of the table along with Ireland.

“It’s always great to return to Edinburgh and our association goes beyond work. It’s been a pleasure to work on this project but more over enjoyable to be with a nice bunch of guys who enjoy sport. Despite us hosting them it always feels like we are the guests as they are proud and happy to show us what Edinburgh has to offer”.

The car park received coatings designed by Triflex, plus corrosion treatments to the interconnecting ramps and designated areas. The car park remained live throughout the refurbishment and dealt with the Scottish Government issues that were imposed during covid. The car park has completed its 12-month retention defects period which passed with flying colours. The car park benefits from a 10-year guarantee and despite its busy city centre location is dealing well with the demands upon it.

“The guys at Makers have been first class and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, hopefully we can work with them again in the near future and getting Gavin Hastings to pop in was a great touch!”
