Let the festival begin!!
After an extreme tendering process and in depth interviews Makers has emerged successful in the next chapter of the parking provision at Festival Place.
Opened in 2002 Festival Place became the regional shopping centre for Hampshire housing over 200 retail stores, restaurants, cinema a sports centre and of course Breeze FM.
In December of 2015, the Festival Place Shopping centre was acquired by AEW Europe adding some 1 million square feet of retail space and 2770 parking spaces over 5 floors to their existing portfolio or to be more exact 70,000 m2 of car parking area.
The centre already attracts over 20 million visitors each year but Head of the private equity fund Russell Jewell wants more for the centre.
?We are looking at a number of major long term initiatives that will enhance the long term performance of the centre; the centres car park will be improved to enhance their quality and efficiency?
Russell Jewell, AEW Europe
The car park will see a fundamental change in their appearance with failing coatings removed and replaced with Sika?s latest flooring technology, together with the replacement of the car parks existing movement joints. The existing steelwork structure will see the effects of corrosion removed and enhanced to provide a cleaner, brighter environment coupled with the integration of the largest wayfinding system to be installed in Europe to provide clear parking opportunities to drivers and improve the efficiency of the linked car park decks.
This multi million pound investment is only part of the investment measures and exciting projects to be introduced at Festival Place.
?We are delighted to have an insight into the aspirations for Festival Place by AEW; there is a great deal of excitement about the future development of the town centre?
Laura Taylor, Executive Director of Borough Services
The refurbishment and modernisation programme will create a more inspiring shopping and dining experience which will lead to increases in both dwell time and footfall with the introduction of key retail brands and restaurants, together with enhanced car park facilities.
?Makers were working on the old multi storey when the centre was being built, so to return some 15 years later to transform the centre car parks is a fabulous opportunity?
