Located in Essex just off the M11 this popular car park serves the town centre and the Watergardens Shopping Centre, consisting of over 300,000 sqft of retail space and parking for 1200 cars completed in 2004.

The car park is very heavily used as it serves TK Max, Matalan and ASDA, each with their own demographic of customer.

The car park is incredibly flexible due to the shallow depths of the steel beams and because of the poor construction of the structure topping, resulting in cracking and reflected through all of the plank to plank junctions.

Unfortunately, following extensive investigation it was found that the reinforcement within the structural topping was not placed in the correct position, causing the structural topping to debond from the precast planks, placing greater stress on the waterproof coating resulting in extensive cracking and leaking into the deck below.  Read how Makers refurbish the car park and remedy the problems…
