Alex Bloor; a performance through the roof
The Board of Makers Construction are happy to announce the appointment of Alex Bloor to National Roofing Director with immediate effect. Alex’s tenure with Makers has been a relatively short one in Makers terms, but his contributions to the Company cannot be underestimated since his arrival in 2017.
Alex joined us from a profile a local roofing provider where he was engaged in Technical Sales, but when the Business Development Role arose at Makers he jumped at the opportunity with both feet.

Alex comes from a construction sales background with over 20 years’ experience from managing his own business to high intensity sales in the roofing sector. Married to Sandra with three children, Oliver 12, Aidan 10 and Evie 6 and with Sandra gainfully employed as a frontline Nurse in the NHS the last 12 months has proved very demanding under covid 19 restrictions.
“Luckily I wasn’t furloughed …Makers took the commercial decision to maintain all new business operations including tendering and enquiries although working from home had its limits it also provided some space to be able to review the future requirement for the roofing element of the business. Whilst most construction companies we winding down and halting activity we were quite the reverse with big roofing projects being accelerated to generate income.
…Some clients were insistent that progress on their projects had to be maintained which turned out to be a Godsend as it gave me a break from home schooling and the obligatory “Garden pallet bar!” the ability to act and behave normally provided that stimulant to focus on some of the major projects which we have now been successful in winning” Alex Bloor
Alex’s impact on our Roofing Division has been extraordinary which has seen unparalleled growth resulting in 5-year installation deals, multimillion pound projects in the food sector and a plethora of projects across university faculties. Running his own fit out company has provided Alex with hands on experience and coupled with his technical sales background has meant that his approach to providing technical solutions from primary investigations to full budget submissions has resulted in numerous successful projects resulting in accelerated growth within the Makers Roofing Division.

To unwind Alex loves nothing more than taking to his “FELT” mountain bike around Cannock Chase where he lives nearby. In the past his passion was for a classic VW Camper bus but with increasing demand from Children’s weekend activities the VW became more of a static shrine and so with a heavy heart was sold to make room for a more practical mode of transport.

Our approach to the roofing market is based on our DNA from our parking achievements where we offer highly cost-effective technical solutions based on expert knowledge and Alex has moulded into this model very well with some outstanding results and with the continued support of the Board will move us on to bigger things.

Alex has a clear vision of the potential and contribution the Roofing Division can have towards the business and believes the impact in sales will be close to £10 Million pounds in the coming years.
