Makers Grand Depart
Only a few days after the historic grande depart in Yorkshire of the Tour de France, Meadowhall Shopping Centre witnessed its second in as many weeks. A slightly less attended affair, Darren Wootton Operations Director joined a 23 strong squad to complete the Anglo – French tour covering over 400 miles in 4 days arriving on the Champs-Élysées in Paris the day before the Tour de France finalé.
Local Hospice, St. Lukes will be the main beneficiary of the £30,000 the team are raising and have been delighted with the response from family, friends and corporate sponsors.
“I have trained very hard for the last 9 months accumulating in excess of 2,000 miles. I really wanted to enjoy the experience rather than feel slaughtered so hopefully all my hard work will pay off. I would just like to thank everyone who has sponsored me.”
Darren Wootton – Operations Director
“Makers staff seem to have carried on the Olympic spirit with members of staff completing Iron Man Challenges, Coast to Coast, Ribble Valley run and now Sheffield to Paris. I am delighted for them and their achievements and before long we may even assemble a Makers cycle team.”
Simon Lamb – MD
“We are always pleased to support our staff on these types of events, the benefits to the individual and company are immeasurable.”
