Stuart Rooker Takes on 100-Mile Challenge in Memory of Wife, Raising Funds for Breast Cancer Now
Stuart Rooker, Finance Director at Makers Construction, is stepping up to make a difference this May by walking 100 miles to raise funds for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s leading breast cancer research and support charity.
The virtual fundraising challenge, 100 Miles in May, kicks off on 1st May 2025 and is open to everyone across the UK. Stuart’s participation is deeply personal. He is taking on the challenge in memory of his beloved wife, Becky Rooker, who tragically passed away from breast cancer on 17 January 2024.
“This May, I will be walking 100 miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now!” Stuart said. “Why? Because last year, I lost my wife to this cruel disease, and our family’s lives will never be the same and because a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 10 minutes in the UK.”
“Breast Cancer Now are here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £50. I’m hoping to raise at least £250 as every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.” Stuart Rooker, Finance Director, Makers
Breast Cancer Now funds world-class research and provides vital support for people living with breast cancer, making events like this crucial to its mission. The charity’s vision is that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well.
