Makers Welcomes new Apprentices
Again, whilst the construction industry is crying out for apprentices Makers welcomes its most recent additions who will be studying at Birmingham City University.
“We have a long and proud tradition of taking on apprentices and ensuring they reach their goals. This year is a little different with all the apprentices studying at Birmingham University on a day release basis with the introduction of the new ‘T’ Levels. They are embarking on a 5 year course in Construction and the Built Environment which leads to a degree. Some of our traditional partners have moved away from day release to block release which didn’t really work for us or our apprentices”.
Sean Allsop, HSQE Manager
“I am delighted to welcome our new apprentices which cover the disciplines of Quantity Surveying, Estimating and Site Management. They join an illustrious group who have all been successful and some have gone on to manage senior rolls within the company. In what has been uncertain times for the industry it’s great to see that young people are still considering a career in construction.
Our apprenticeship scheme has been recognised by the CIOB for both its ingenuity and placing the apprentice at the heart of the scheme and we are delighted that Bill, Cal, Jack, Cormack and Jessie are now starting out on their journeys and we wish them every success”.
Simon Lamb, MD
Although the academic year starts in September some of our apprentices join throughout the year and work alongside senior management gaining site and professional experience.
We actively encourage school leavers but also have adopted our approach to mature applicants who may wish to retrain and enter the construction industry.
