Makers has Lakeside Covered
Makers were awarded the contract to resolve the leaking roof issue at the iconic Lakeside Shopping Centre. The 60,000m2 project was initially divided into 5 phases with a yearly attendance brief.
Originally, the work programme was agreed by Intu but with its failure to refinance its £4.5bn debt and the impact of covid the business went into administration.
After the restructure, Lakeside had to wait and evaluate the change in consumer behaviour with the reliance on online shopping predominantly at the fore during the pandemic, however with the lifting of the restrictions Lakeside has remained as popular as ever with growing footfall and nearly full capacity. As with all imposed changes faces come and go but we delighted to be re-united with familiar faces who delivered the previous phases.
The previous 3 phases have been completed in Sika LPL’s Decathane system however after the new owners approached the market, Alumasc’s Caltech was the preferred supplier for this next phase.
“It’s great to finally be back on site, this was the first project I priced when I started at Makers some 5 years ago. It was supposed to be a 5-year project but Covid had other ideas. It’s been fantastic project to be included in.”
Alex Bloor, Roofing Director.
The Alumasc Caltech System is a Polyurethane system and carries a 20-year warranty for both product and workmanship. The next phase is planned to take approximately 20 weeks commencing in June. The project will have the benefit of Makers portable recycle centre which will reduce the metal container waste volume by 90% which will be then sent off to a recycling specialist.
We wish the team every success in completing the next phase of works.
