Iris an Ausa CE11 dedicated to one of the employees mums sees her first service at Derby along with Daffy a Tennant 6400 sweeper.

Part of the cancer awareness campaign, Kevin soon puts them to work carrying out emergency repairs and restructuring to the Assembly Rooms car park at Derby.

The emergency works will last 7 weeks which will see the car park closed for a period of time to ensure it is restored to a safe condition with structural repairs, deck coatings and new DDA compliant door systems.

The 21 storey building has an imposing view over the city, construction commenced in 1972 and was completed 3 years later, this structure comprises of a 7 storey podium and 21 storey tower.

Makers have been awarded the contract to repair the 2 building complex originally designed by Architects Richard Seifert and Partners who also designed the Alpha Tower in Birmingham.  The structure is now undergoing a 20 week programme of repair, corrosion inhibitor and sealant works to extend the facades life.

The project has taken 9 months to bring to fruition sourcing parts and forklifts culminating  in today’s dedication.

The Forklifts all presented in their “hot pink” colours also sported the names of the mums and the relevant awareness ribbon from which they suffered.

The Staffordshire based company has been involved with Makers “Pink Lady” campaign from its initial conception and has demonstrated it could provide excellent service with an in depth knowledge of the plant and machinery used by Makers.

The two year deal will see further investment by Makers in its plant acquisition, with Davisons completing onsite training and service agreements.

Watergardens Shopping Centre

The 1200 space, 15,000m² structure was constructed in 2004 and serves major retailers such as ASDA, TK MAXX, Malatan, HMV.

Makers were engaged by Wilson Bowden Developments, the original developer of the site and following an extensive design and review process, replaced the existing failing system to the large single suspended deck structure, over an 18 week phased programme.

Given the large volumes of vehicular movements, co-ordination and phasing were critical to the success of the project, for tennants and users alike.

The existing system was mechanically removed and the Sika Pronto system adopted as it offered a fast curing crack bridging option to what was a leaking car park structure.

As part of the largest physical regeneration scheme in Birmingham, Makers were delighted to be part of the Eastside Stimulus Project.

Makers having considerable knowledge and expertise in transforming the existing parking stock for Birmingham City Council set about the design and installation of the 24,000m² of Sika Pronto membrane.

Eastside had already gained a reputation for a radical external designed look and the internal finish needed to compliment that strategy with an intuitive parking layout.

“the main contractor had suffered from significant bad weather in the build of the structure and the design and introduction of the Sika Pronto range meant we were able to significantly reduce installation times during cold weather.”

The 6 storey car park recieved an individual bay design, a move away from traditional line marking to give it a more modern feel.  The Fastcure products allowed Makers to complete the installation in a 12 week period.

The Castlegate Shopping Centre covers a 6.5 acre site and receives over 12 million visitors per year.

Purpose built in 1972 the shopping centre also houses the historic indoor markets and is the natural hub of Stockton.

Recieving over 3/4 million vehicle visits per year the car park was suffering badly from ongoing corrosion and spalling concrete.  The original 1972 structure had been under significant strain to cope with modern day use and Makers were chosen to design and install a CP system (Cathodic Protection) to arrest the corrosion and provide ongoing protection.
